New Location

Part of the reason this update is behind schedule is because we’ve been in the middle of a move! We loved our shop in Vancouver, but for a number of reasons it didn’t make sense for us to keep working there this season. Setting up the new space has been a big project (and we’re still fine-tuning it), but production is underway and we’re excited about the fresh start!
If you need to send any units or parts to us for returns or repairs, our new address is:
34 - 9440 Ferndale Rd.
V6Y 0A7 Richmond, BC
Canada

New Units Ready Soon

We’ll have a fresh batch of 12 PL1s assembled and tested by September 30th and plan to keep inventory in stock throughout the season. Due to rising production costs, prices will increase for the upcoming ski season — but this week is your last chance to preorder at last season’s price.

If you’ve been thinking about getting a PL1, lock in your unit now before the price change. Preorders at the current price close September 30th, 2025.

Upgrades since launch

A customer recently sent a unit in for repairs, and we thought this was a good opportunity to remind everyone that we’re happy to provide new parts or service your PL1 ahead of the season.

It’s a good idea to check your unit to ensure it’s running well and see if you’re behind on any of the design changes we’ve made since launching. Anyone with the original rope guides, idler pulley or tension wheel will benefit by changing to the newest version. If you struggle with throttle response you may want to look at updating the programming of the motor controller. If you’re unsure about what you have, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Tariffs: CUSMA / USMCA compliance

Changes at the Canada - USA border have been a challenge for many Canadian and US based businesses, but we want to reassure our American customers that the PL1 is a CUSMA/USMCA compliant product and should not be subject to tariffs.
With that in mind, There may be mistakes and if you are mistakenly charged for tariffs after your order crosses the border, please let us know immediately and file an appeal with FedEx. Make sure that if you do, you include a scan or photo of the certificate of origin, which shows that the PL1 is manufactured in Canada. A quick reminder that as always, orders to the USA are subject to local taxes and brokerage fees, which aren’t included in the price of your order at checkout.

Loop Update Coming Soon!

Rob has been hard at work on the Loop System, and we’ll be sharing a new update soon with product renderings and details about the Kickstarter launch. We’ve decided to push the launch back to allow more time for early-season testing. Instead of October, we’re now aiming for a late November or early December launch.

Dragon’s Den

We’re excited to share that we will be appearing on Dragon’s Den season 20 episode 3 on CBC, Oct 9, 8pm (8:30 NT). This past Spring we had the pleasure of visiting the CBC studios in Toronto to pitch our business to the Dragons. To see how it went, you’ll have to tune in to the CBC or CBC Gem Oct 9th.

Stay tuned for our next update! In the meantime, we hope you’re having a wonderful autumn and getting excited for the start of another ski season!

Let it snow,

Zoa Engineering Team
